dc.description.abstractThis thesis explores the innovative integration of Augmented Reality (AR) technology in diverse applications, focusing on urban planning, industrial environments, and data interaction. Through a series of five experiments, the study demonstrates the versatility and potential of AR in enhancing real-world interactions and data visualization. Experiment 1 sets the stage by showcasing AR’s utility in urban planning, through the visualization of prefabs and elements based on GPS coordinates locations. Experiment 2 builds on this by implementing real-time data updates, enhancing the user experience. Experiment 3 introduces object detection technology via CUDA, focusing on tracking and recording environmental metrics like velocity, kinetic energy, and CO2 emissions, aimed at urban planning efficiency. Experiment 4 advances into the industrial domain, employing the AR + GPS Location plugin to geo-locate objects, facilitating efficient order management and workspace organization in industrial settings. Finally, Experiment 5 culminates in creating a dual-perspective virtual environment for an industrial plant, offering an immersive and interactive experience for managing work orders and plant layouts. The thesis not only contributes to the theoretical understanding of AR technology but also provides practical insights into its application in urban and industrial settings. The research findings underscore the potential of AR in transforming how we interact with data and environments, paving the way for future innovations in smart city and industrial management.
