    User Experience in Institutional Repositories
(IGI Global, 2018-01) González-Pérez, Laura I.; Ramírez Montoya, María S.; García-Peñalvo, Franciso-José; Tecnológico de Monterrey; Universidad de Salamanca; Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Monterrey, Mexico; Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Monterrey, Mexico; GRIAL Research Group, Department of Computer Science, Science Education Research Institute (IUCE), University of Salamanca, Salamanca, Spain
Disruptive ideas and innovative business models take shape from observing and investigating the needs and demands of potential users and measuring their success based on the acceptance by users and their satisfaction. In an educational context, a new mission of the university has emerged, supported by the transfer of open access knowledge through Institutional Repositories (IR); it is important to know the motivations and needs of the academic community to promote scientific dissemination using these platforms. The present article uses the method of systematic literature review: using 29 studies from SCOPUS and WoS, involving the topics User-Centered Design (UCD) and repositories. The results show that two of the three UCD phases—evaluation and requirements—are closely linked and are the reiterative focus of UCD; thus, it is desirable to promote the design of custommade prototypes according to the users’ motivations. It is necessary to redefine methodologies for IR development within open-access ecosystems to guide them towards meeting their potential users’ needs and motivations.

Inverted Learning Environments with Technology, Innovation and Flexibility
(IGI Global, 2016-01) Ramírez-Montoya, María-Soledad; Hernández, Darinka del Carmen Ramírez; Tecnológico de Monterrey; Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico; Tecnológico de Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico
Flexibility, technology and innovation can lead to challenging learning environments. The research question: What are students' meanings and experiences in inverted learning environments? The investigation methodology was mixed with three instruments applied to 568 students. Flexible environments, active learning and inverted learning were analyzed. Qualitative and quantitative data were triangulated with instruments, data and theory. The results indicated that (1) university students of flexible environments modified their schedules and learning locations; (2) active learning is related to students' meanings, and; (3) inverted learning experiences confirm that they find a source of learning not only in the teacher figure but also in their peers. Students mentioned learning from videos (77%) has the advantage of flexibility as well as technical problems (34%) as a disadvantage.

TEEM (Technological Ecosystems for Enhancing Multiculturality) Conference has the aim to deal with cur - rent complex problems regarding the Knowledge Society from a technological-based multicultural approach. This event is organized in thematic tracks in which ones different approaches and solutions are discussed. Educational innovation has been presented in all TEEM editions as a very key topic related to the way teach - ing and learning is tackled at this moment. Specifically, this special issue gathers four selected and extended papers from TEEM 2014 that present success educational cases that fully involve the use of technology in the educational processes from a multicultural perspective.
