- Needs and expectations of university students: Learning from the impact of Covid-19 upon 9 Spanish universities(IIER, 2022-03-07) García González, Abel; Ramírez Montoya, María Soledad; Aznar Diaz, Inmaculada; Romero Rodríguez, José María; Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de MonterreyThis research studied the needs of university students receiving distance and hybrid education during the Covid-19 pandemic. The study's main objective was to analyse the university students' expectations and needs in the Andalusia (Spain) region during the Covid-19 health emergency, to provide guidelines for post-Covid online and hybrid educational continuity. A qualitative interpretative study was carried out on the survey responses of 641 undergraduate and postgraduate students in nine Andalusian universities. Six themes related to the students' needs and expectations came from the findings. The needs and expectations of students during a health emergency like the Covid-19 pandemic depend on university management developing and implementing a clear plan of action, continually communicating with students, training teachers in the virtual and hybrid modalities, and building and maintaining empathetic relationships in the university community
- Sharing images or videos of minors online: Validation of the Sharenting Evaluation Scale (SES).(2022-02-04) Kopecký, Kamil; Gómez García, Gerardo; Romero Rodríguez, José María; García González, Abel; Gómez García, Gerardo; Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de MonterreySharenting is a current phenomenon of online communication, which is related to the sharing of images of the youngest members of the family (often minors) by parents or relatives, mainly on social networks. However, this constitutes a series of consequences that compromise privacy and may put the child at risk. The aim of this work was to validate the Sharenting Evaluation Scale (SES), designed to assess the degree of sharenting in the adult population, in order to catalogue the type of practice performed through ranges. A rigorous process of design and validation of the scale was carried out on a sample of 146 Spanish adults. Different strategies were used, such as expert judgement, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and reliability analysis using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. After that, the scale was composed of 17 items configured in three factors: implications, social behaviour, and self-control. Finally, the scale showed good psychometric properties, providing a unique and reliable instrument to assess the degree of sharenting performed by an adult.
- Social entrepreneurship education: Changemaker training at the University(Emerald, 2021-10-19) García González, Abel; Ramírez Montoya, María Soledad; Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de MonterreyThis study aims to contribute to the body of scientific knowledge about teaching and promoting social entrepreneurship in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) based on a measurement before and after concluding an educational experience. It tests hypotheses to draw conclusions from analyzing the pre and post-test results of three study cases with different training experiences, to know the characteristics of the 304 participants. The study indicated that incorporating transversal social entrepreneurship projects in various courses resulted in students feeling more capable regarding their social entrepreneurship potential. The study presents the analysis of social entrepreneur training in three different curricular study cases. The information obtained adds value to social entrepreneurship education research that takes social entrepreneurship beyond business schools.
- The Phenomenon of Sexting Among Mexican and Spanish University Students: A Multigroup Model(Springer, 2021-01-20) García González, Abel; Romero Rodríguez, José María; Ramírez Montoya, María Soledad; Aznar Díaz, Inmaculada; Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de MonterreyThe practice of sexting is a phenomenon that has been growing in recent times due to the use of technology and the advance of mobile devices. This practice can have negative consequences for young people who practice it without knowing the risk involved. The main objectives of this paper were to analyze sexting behavior in Mexican and Spanish university students, and to determine the possible sociodemographic factors that influence sexting practice in order to generate explanatory models. A cross-sectional study design was adopted by applying an online survey to a sample of 781 university students. The students belonged to two different institutions, 394 from a Mexican university and 387 from a Spanish university. The results indicated that the practice of sexting was higher in Spanish university students and there were significant differences between the two populations. Furthermore, the model generated on sexting indicated that the country, gender, sexual orientation and use of dating applications were possible predictors of this phenomenon. At the same time, the practice of sexting had a possible influence on students’ levels of depression and stress. Finally, the data and findings obtained showed relevant data on the practice of sexting in Mexican and Spanish students and on the sociodemographic factors that can be influential.
