- Optimal fine of wastewater outfall problem in shallow body of water : A bilevel optimization approach(Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, 2021-05-21) Nava Alemán, Yosefat; Kalashnikov, Viacheslav; tolmquevedo; School of Engineering and Sciences; Campus Monterrey; Kalashnykova, NataliyaA large literature on bilevel programming has emerged, focussing on optimality conditions of algorithms and theory associated with certain class of problems. The topic treated in this thesis aim to model the wastewater management problems as a bilevel optimization problems and develop algorithms and discretization techniques that deal with the behaviour of the nonlinear wastewater dispersion that is governed by the Navier-Stokes equation. To find the optimal penalty function we construct the emission concentration system solution and define the wastewater management problems as bilevel optimization problems and provide theoretical insight when the problem is reformulated to a single-level formulation using a Karush-Kuhn-Tucker condition approach; then we develop algorithms that allow finding numerical solutions of the wastewater management problems.
- Carbon policy in presence of a consumer-friendly firm(Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, 2018-07) García Martínez, Arturo; GARCIA MARTINEZ, ARTURO; 327757; Kalashnikov, Viacheslav; Kalashnykova, Nataliya; Smith Cornejo, Neale Ricardo; Ángel Bello Acosta, Francisco Román; Güemes Castorena, DavidThis dissertation studies the implications of the emergence of a consumer-friendly firm in a duopolistic polluting industry when the regulator can or not commit credibly to an environmental instrument, such as an emission tax or a tradable permits policy.
- Oligopoly studies: on the interaction of private firms with homogeneous and heterogeneous objectives(Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, 2018-05-14) Leal Coronado, Mariel Adriana; LEAL CORONADO, MARIEL ADRIANA; 327746; Kalashnikov, Viacheslav; Kalashnykova, Nataliya; David Güemes Castorena; Smith Cornejo, Neale Ricardo; Bello Acosta, Francisco Román ÁngelTwo oligopoly studies compose this thesis. The first study considers that firms have the homogenous objective of maximizing their profits. The second one contemplates the presence of a private firm with a different objective, a consumer friendly firm. In
